In Remembrance of Steve

I don't want to say much about this song other than it is, sadly, a true story about a vet who took the war back home with himself. One day, when he couldn't stand the memories any longer, he chose death: the one place memories can't follow. His mother, a really wonderful human being who's had to deal with more than her fair share of tragedy, inspired me to write the song.

I do this song in standard tuning, capoed at the second fret. In the center of the song, Sean and I tried to hint at the theme to Requiem while having in the background a loud electric guitar attempting to capture the sonic madness that typifies some music of the late 60s and early 70s, and the madness of the times as well. Sean adds some nice touches on piano. You can hear the loop (see "Requiem" notes) return on the final verse.
